What is the dosage and how should it be used?
Simvastatin comes in tablets to be taken orally. It is used in doses of 5 mg up to 80 mg. Higher doses (160 mg) have been found to be too toxic, while giving only minimal benefit in terms of lipid lowering.
It is usually taken once a day at bedtime.
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. It is important not to take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
